David Thiessen designs and creates unique woodwork and furniture intended to reflect the unique beauty of the materials used while also satisfying the unique needs of each client. He combines contemporary design with timeless elements from the past to create fully functional, aesthetically pleasing interiors and furniture that enriche the experience of its users.

Thiessen uses only the best materials, hardware, and finishes for his projects. Hardwoods, both domestic and exotic, are hand-selected for each job. Veneers used are chosen from a single log known as a “flitch” for consistent grain and color throughout a project. Once a build is complete, a high-quality conversion varnish is sprayed on for a tough, long-wearing finish. Finally, the latest European hardware is installed for smooth, quiet operation.

The client/maker relationship is very important to David. “Working with the client is just as important as working with the wood,” says Thiessen, who notes that many of his clients have become friends by the end of the process. “My clients bring me unique needs and challenges that give me the opportunity to design something I would not have otherwise.” Each project expands David’s design vocabulary.
